Test Build 8 Released

This is a small update to really almost fix the scaling issues in the gallery. You may have to tap on the thumbnail within the gallery, but it should resize. I’m not sure I can do much more than that.

Besides the scaling issue, I think I figured out why the gallery causes peoples’ phones to head up. Hopefully now it won’t do that.

Again, it’s up on the Mimi Beta Testers community on Google+.

Also the signature is different from other builds. You’ll have to uninstall before installing the new apk.

I like it so far but it seems some big pics are being blown up so i have to slide around to see the whole thing. Other then that i like the way it handles it.

I know it sucks the way it is, but that’s the best I can do right now. You can tap the thumbnail and it will resize properly. It’s a crappy workaround and I’ll get it fixed when I redo the gallery after the 3.0 release.

Just out of curiosity, is there a reason trip codes don’t ever display properly? When I enter my trip using Japanese characters it shows up properly as HLP.EViL but when I put it in Mimi (and every other 4chan app for that matter) it shows as Vqxgdhdgs (not the actual trip, just an example)

I’d really like my trip code to display properly.

That is really weird. All I do is display what 4chan sends. Maybe there’s something I need to do to get it to look correct. I’ll look into it. Thanks for letting me know.

I’m sorry if I sound stupid here, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to access the gallery. Say I used the download all images in a thread function, where would I view said images?

Not stupid at all. You should be able to open the gallery app on your phone to view the images. There’s also a great app called QuickPic that plays animated GIF files as well. I’ll look into providing some way to at least open the gallery from within Mimi. I don’t include a more full-featured image gallery in Mimi because there are apps that do it much better than I can.

I believe the actual location on your device of the images is /sdcard/Mimi.

Ahh, thank you kindly. For some reason Gallery doesn’t show images from Mimi, however QuickPic works perfectly. Much obliged!

Android is weird like that. When you save an image, the app tells the system that new image media has been added. Android doesn’t seem to care, though.

The images will most likely appear in Gallery after your phone reboots. But QuickPic is much better than Gallery, in my opinion.

That is definitely a frustrating quirk of android. Sometimes it runs a media scanning service, sometimes it only does it at boot. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to which happens across various carrier roms, though most custom roms give you the option to manually start a media scan.

That’s one thing that has kept me out of app development and into Rom development; it would drive me nuts to have to constantly revise my code to fit the various quirks introduced by carrier bloat and oem launchers and frameworks.
